Towns of Fishkill and Wappinger

FISHKILL, WAPPINGER TO SHARE ASSESSOR'S SERVICES:

The towns of Wappinger and Fishkill will save taxpayers an estimated $741,580 over the next 10 years by sharing an assessor.

Future savings are a result of the towns' coordinated assessment agreement, which allows towns or cities to share an assessor and reap one year's worth of state grants to help pay for property revaluations.

Wappinger and Fishkill will split the cost of hired Assessor Christian Hawkins, employed for $75,000.

The town is getting an additional $12 per parcel, and $5 per parcel revaluation in state aid for sharing a town assessor, Ruggiero said.

In 2007, Wappinger will receive an estimated $160,000 in state assessment funds and Fishkill will receive $119,697 in funding.
